Moss, lichen, mould and black streaking make a roof look older than it is. Organic growth can also hold moisture and trap debris. Roof cleaning removes that growth and dirt and is often done before selling, before painting or simply to refresh the look of a home.
Most roofs are cleaned using soft washing rather than high pressure. You can read more about the method on our roof soft washing page.

How we approach the job
We inspect the roof first and choose the approach for its material and condition. Typically we apply a soft wash solution to kill organic growth, allow dwell time, and then rinse at low pressure. This reduces the risk of cracking tiles, damaging paint or forcing water under flashings that high pressure can cause.
Things to know before you book
- Cleaning does not repair cracked tiles, failing pointing or rust. We can let you know if we notice visible issues so you can contact a roofer.
- Some lichen staining fades over the weeks after treatment rather than immediately.
- Roof access depends on pitch, height and conditions on the day; safety comes first.
What affects your quote

Frequently asked questions
Do you use high pressure on roofs?
Usually not. Soft washing is the preferred method for most roofs because high pressure can damage tiles, coatings and flashings.
Will my roof look new afterwards?
Cleaning removes dirt and growth and often makes a large difference, but it cannot reverse fading, coating failure or physical damage.
